Clara lives by the big river. She longs to travel to the shore she can hardly see. As she grows older, she begins to journey, but is always longing to go to yet more distant shores. But she ends up wondering where she can find a place where she is truly content. The book ends with her being shown a way of searching for the place that will be her heart's eternal home. 'A fine example of literature as a place for entertaining and exploring ideas and possibilities. It presented notions of life as a journey which encompasses awareness, seeking, searching, finding a purpose or something of ultimate value.' RE Today Magazine
