This book is suitable for Key Stage 1. KS1 covers school years 1 and 2, and ages 5-7 years. A key stage is any of the fixed stages into which the national curriculum is divided, each having its own prescribed course of study. At the end of each stage, pupils are required to complete standard assessment tasks.

Carolyn Curtis is an author and Special Education classroom aid wh has also worked as an early childhood music teacher and in publishing. Her writing is often inspired by nature and she enjoys thinking through ideas outdoors. Alison Jay graduated from the London College of Printing and worked in animation studios before moving into children's book illustrations. She loves to paint animals and works in alkyd a fast=drying oil paint, over which she applies a cracle glaxe varnish to create her instantly recognizable style. Alison Jay's signature style, which features distinctive crackle varnishing, has also been featured in Barefoot Books titles Listen, Listen and I Took the Moon for a Walk.
