Phyllis Root has been writing for children for thirty years and has published more than forty books for young children. She currently teaches in the MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults program at Hamline University. Alison Friend is a successful illustrator whose warm and whimsical artwork has appeared in both picture books and fiction. She studied Fine Art at university, and worked as a stonemason and greetings card illustrator before turning her hand to children's book illustration. She lives with her husband and son in the Lake District.
