Alison Friend is a successful illustrator whose warm and whimsical artwork has appeared in both picture books and fiction. She studied Fine Art at university, and worked as a stonemason and greetings card illustrator before turning her hand to children's book illustration. She lives with her husband and son in the Lake District. Claire Freedman lives on the Essex coast. She has worked for the BBC, Harrods and for a reprographic company, and now she writes full-time.
