Five sisters in Jerusalem, 1913, try to find their lost brother in New York with the help of a photograph.
1913: Sarah Bernstein and her five daughters live in Jerusalem. The girls' brother Isaac has left for New York, and the family haven't heard from him in more than a year. When Sarah's birthday approaches, the five girls club together with their wicked, whimsical Aunt Mimi and have their photograph taken.
