Petites Etoiles uses rhymes and songs to introduce young children to French language learning. This comprehensive resource provides lesson plans, activities and ideas to last you from Reception right through to Year 2. Based on 18 popular topics, such as toys, food, animals and celebrations, the activities and ideas in Petites Etoiles will integrate easily into your planning. Supportive video and audio files, and the clear, easy-to-use layout, make this resource accessible for teachers of any level of competence. Each unit focuses on a rhyme or song and contains sufficient activities for at least half a term. The accompanying DVD contains audio recordings of the songs, video clips to aid pronunciation of key sounds, as well as a huge bank of reproducible resources. The spontaneity and lack of inhibition of early years and KS1 children make them exceptionally receptive to learning a foreign language. Petites Etoiles capitalizes on this, providing a wealth of practical, play-oriented activities, ranging from role-play and miming to phonics games and mask making. Cross-curricular links, extensions for older or more able children and opportunities for developing intercultural understanding make this a truly outstanding resource.

This book is suitable for Key Stage 1. KS1 covers school years 1 and 2, and ages 5-7 years. A key stage is any of the fixed stages into which the national curriculum is divided, each having its own prescribed course of study. At the end of each stage, pupils are required to complete standard assessment tasks.
