Amanda Vesey studied painting and illustration at the Salisbury School of Art and Chelsea College of Art. She has been a teacher of art in both art schools and secondary schools as well as being a successful author and illustrator of children's books. In 1980 she was runner-up in the Mother Goose Award, for her book Cousin Blodwyn's Visit, published by Methuen and later televised. Wendy Cope is best known for her award-winning contemporary poetry for adults, but has also written extensively for children.
