The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde's classic tale is of a Selfish Giant who builds a high wall round his lovely garden to keep the children out. 'My own garden is my own garden,' said the Giant; 'anyone can understand that, and I will allow nobody to play in it but myself.' Winter comes and stays in the garden and the Giant wonders why. But then a child creeps in to play, and the Giant realises his mistake.
