Bright Sparks Literacy Project is a set of reading materials that provide staged opportunities for the progressive acquisition of literacy skills in the early years of schooling. Each title draws on a broad base of literacy skills, yet focuses on one or two skills, enabling teachers to appropriately select texts according to student's perceived need. Readers are exposed to a range of appropriate text types and language structures. Texts and activities have been developed around common themes explored in contemporary classrooms, allowing teachers to capitalise on the use of context when reading and writing.

Melissa Webb has always been drawing ever since she was a little girl and has been working as a freelance illustrator for around 35 years. Starting out using pencils, then pens and paintbrushes, Melissa now does all her drawing using a computer and drawing tablet. She has always enjoyed drawing animals and using lots of colors. She lives with a silly collection of too many animals, including three cats (Millie, Minky and Ringo) and two dogs (Ruby who has a noodle nose and Ping who has no hair on his body). Pamela Rushby is a well- known, award-winning Australian author. Her YA title When the Hipchicks Went to War won the Ethel Turner Prize in the 2010 NSW Premier's Awards. HCPA published Circles of Stone in 2003 and The Horses Didn't Come Home in 2012. Pam lives in Brisbane.
