Anne of Avonlea then follows Anne as teacher in the local school. In addition to her efforts to make her mark by forming the Avonlea Village Improvement Society, Anne also finds herself helping to raise orphans in the shape of twins Davy and Dora.

Lucy Maud Montgomery was born in 1874, and is best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables , published in 1908.

This book contains the following stories:

Anne of Green Gables
When red-headed orphan Anne Shirley arrives at Green Gables, she feels sure she's found the home she has always longed for. Her new adoptive parents, the Cuthberts, are less certain - they had asked the orphanage for a boy. But before long, Anne's irrepressible optimism and loving nature charms them. While her temper is unpredictable and her extravagant imagination makes her dreamily whimsical and prone to comic mishap, they come to love Anne as if she were their own child.

Anne of Avonlea
Five years ago, Anne arrived at Avonlea a skinny orphan without a friend in the world; now it would be impossible to imagine Green Gables without her. Anne's high spirits and warm heart have won her a family and friends who love her. But when she starts a job as a teacher at her old school, the real test of her character begins: at 'half past sixteen', she's not much older than her pupils and has a lot to prove. How can she inspire a love of learning in young minds - especially when some of her students are even naughtier than she ever was?
