VENETIA DEAN studied for an Art and Design degree at Leeds University where she experimented for a while in ceramics and photography before deciding that illustration was her calling. She lives in Leeds with her husband, two children and two dogs (a Spaniel and a Labrador) - she says there's never a dull moment in her house! She loves living in Leeds as she can draw so much inspiration for her illustrations and photography. Jane Lacey was a primary school teacher for ten years before she became a full-time writer of non-fiction books for children between the ages of three and eleven. Venitia Dean is a freelance illustrator who grew up in Brighton. She has always loved drawing, ever since she could hold a pencil! As a teenager she discovered a passion for figurative illustration and then when she turned 19 she was given a digital drawing tablet for her birthday and started transferring her work to the computer. She hasn't looked back since! As well as illustration, Venitia loves reading graphic novels, and walking her dog Peanut.
