Hazel Townson was formerly Chief Assistant Librarian in charge of work with young people in Bury, Lancashire. She now devotes her time to writing and for years has been going into schools and libraries to talk to children about writing. She has chaired the Lancashire Children's Book Award for 16 years. Martin Salisbury is Professor of Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in Anglia Ruskin University, where he designed and leads the UK's first Masters programme in children's book illustration. Among his books on the subject are Play Pen: New Children's Book Illustration (2007) and Children's Picturebooks (2011).
