Great for age 12-18 years
Arthur Dorros combines his interest in other cultures and knowledge of nature to create a gripping survival story. Emet, separated from his parents by the Balkan conflict, must travel across a rugged landscape to a place he's heard rumours of, a village of children, living in harmony away from the violence that is tearing their country apart. The narrative transcends place to be about any child dispossessed by war. Yet this isn't a mournful story. Emet is a resourceful and skillful child, who makes a shelter, fishes and cooks in the wilderness. Boys especially will find him and his adventures appealing.
